I wish I had brought my camera along last Sunday. My wife and I attended an affair in Allentown PA in the morning. After having a brunch, we decided to wander around a bit and explore. Her father's birth place was Tamaqua, so we went for a visit. After exploring Tamaqua briefly, we went to Jim Thorpe, about 15 miles away. There was quite a difference between the 2 towns. Jim Thorpe was jumping with activity. And so, as luck would have it we went for an excursion on the tourist RR that calls Jim Thorpe its home. This RR is a subsidiary of Andy Muller's Blue Mountain and Reading.
I have ridden the Durango & Silverton, the Cumbres & Toltec in Colorado/New Mexico and the Verde Canyon RR in Arizona. They are all spectacular in their own way. But there is a very nice ride here in the North East that is spectacular in its own way, especially in the Fall Foliage season which is in full swing right now. But for some reason (IMHO) it has not gotten the same publicity as the others have. At least I had not heard about it before now. By all means take a ride. You will enjoy it thoroughly.
