Post a write up and pictures of Homemade Christmas/Holiday Lionel or other manufacturers cars or engines, or other features you have made, modified, or scratch built.  I’ll start this thread off with photos of a Nativity-themed flatcar I made last season long before MTH announced it would make available a LED backlit manger scene flatcar.  My flatcar, while not a traditional manager scene or adorned with LED lighting, is nevertheless unique and makes a nice addition to my Christmas trains. So now show us what you’ve made for your Christmas train, layout, or display.

Simple modification I do every year. Metallic garland pipe cleaners. Attach the wreaths with a low temp hot glue gun. Pops off easy when done and doesn't damage the finish on diecast locos.

Add stickies printed on photo paper and attached with re-positionable glue sticks (like post-it notes glue). You put the glue on the paper. Thats where the candy canes on the locos and tenders come from.

The tree gondola has a bluetooth speaker in it wrapped in a candy can pattern. The initial run under the tree is done while playing "Rockin Around the Christmas Tree"

Add presents to the coal dump car which are dropped off at the "Toys for Tots" building, and add candy cane logs to the log dump car.

Santa Sled and Reindeer Flat cars for my Christmas Train

I added added as Santa, sled and 8 reindeers plus Rudolph the red nosed reindeer to my Christmas train.  I made the reindeer cars from three junker scout sized flat cars and figures and reindeer from a Hallmark Cards Santa, Sled and Reindeer set.  I painted the flat cars white as reindeer like snow and will show up better with a light color.

One car carried the Santa sled and two reindeer, a second car carried four reindeer and third car carried two reindeer and Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.  The reindeer were simply glued to the flat cars with 5 min epoxy glue.

The original Hallmark Cards Santa sled was too big so a smaller one was made from balsa wood and sized for Hallmark Cards Santa.

A blinking red light was installed in Rudolf’s nose and a power pick up was added to the car.

The Christmas Train is usually stationed on the hidden track behind the background and comes out by surprise for the kids after watching the trains run for a few minutes.  The train has a Christmas candy in a gondola also and is one train always used at Christmas time.

Charlie,
Your set of Hallmark Santa & Reindeer are much different than mine. I wonder how many versions they made?
These are easily narrow enough to fit on a flat car.

Dept.56 also made a nice set, although I don't have a photo of them right now.
