All the same stuff they can't sell, yawn.

What makes them think weathering locos is going to help them sell? If the weathering looks anything like Lionels  past attempts that look like grey primer overspray..........good luck......blowouts anyone??

RickO, I asked the same exact question.

I think I'll get the weathered 4-12-2 even though I already bought one last year given if the weathering looks good.  I think the features on the 4-12-2 (steam whistle) and blow down effects make it a good buy.  Too bad no mention of VL locos.  Whatever happened to this rumored VL Big Boy coming out?

If people think Lionel is going to have blow outs on their products, you should think again.  I don't think there will be blowouts anymore given the fact that Lionel now will only make to order and will not produce extra given that their cash flow is tight.

It would be great if in this catalog they included a die-cast body Three-bay, open-top Hopper with coal load in the correct Burlington Northern paint scheme, road number, and it must have die-cast roller-bearing trucks. The previous release of a BN open-top hopper had the paint scheme of a smaller, older hopper with journal bearing trucks.

An O Scale Chessie System Three-Bay Open-Top Hopper with coal for C&O, B&O, WM would be great, since there have been enough O scale sized Chessie System diesels made in the past 10 years to match the cars.

Quick Casey, it is not a Hoax because I saw the catalog a couple days ago. But what is in it is a joke.

For you guys expecting a Vision product there is a Vision line engine in there. Oh wait it is the Vision line Pennsy Centipede's from two years ago.

As Rick O stated, Ho Hum, all the stuff they haven't been able to sell.

Looks like a garage sale with MSRP pricing.

Thought possibly Nassau Hobby would have it on their site but not there either. Still waiting for Lionel site to get their act together and post it. While they use China manufacturing as reason for missing scheduled deliveries wonder why they can't have catalog ready to go on line in timely fashion on day scheduled as do other companies. (Perhaps they're using Chinese for webhosting, too?) Perhaps, Charlie, rather than relying on assistance from Lionel's itt staff for advice on your Nassau Hobby site, they should ask your web developer for assistance on their Lionel.com site.

Soll over thirty? Were they $2000? If so, with $60,000 sales for only one models that retailer handled, I'd say that's one LHS that's most likely not feeling the pinch quite as much as the majority of LHS's are.

im told the vl big boy is not in the catalog.

I'm not sure how this can be called a 2014 preview catalog if all that is in it is what is posted above, most items being recataloged stuff.

Also forum says GP30, but my LHS says actually are GP35.  So I'm waiting for it to go online to tell who is right...

Well, the front of the catalog is titled "2013 Fall catalog" So I'm not sure how much 2014 product it will contain.

"LHS" is a relative term.  Some of us are just fortunate enough where one of our LHS's also happens to be a VERY large train dealer whose customer base is not that "local".

For the very successful train dealers, selling 30 or so units of a very expensive locomotive is as common as most of us opening a car door every day.  Having said that though, everyone is having a challenging 2013 -- as witnessed by the number of "sales" going on throughout the entire year.

Lionel has clearly had issues coordinating the completion of various set components.  I can think of several sets where the locomotives have been ready for MONTHS now, but a variety of rolling stock haven't even made it to the factory floor yet.  Crazy!

It's only natural that Lionel now would want to sell stuff that's essentially collecting dust in factory storage, but it does raise the question... How many do they sell ala carte vs. "save" for customers who pre-ordered the entire sets?  Gotta be a tricky scenario... and certainly not something they intended to manage at this stage of the game.

Seems like the biggest news for the new catalog is not the trains but the Legacy LCS system.
