In the all-new category ...

1. Legacy PRR Decapod (as previously suggested).

2. In American Flyer, a Legacy scale detailed NYC J3a.

From much existing tooling ...

1. A full-featured Legacy or VL rerun of the scale Commodore Vanderbilt Hudson with the correct colors, drivers, etc. (All of the 'under the hood stuff' for this has already been done for the recent VL J1e).

2. Legacy upgrade kits.

I agree with you Rusty.  Makes it harder for Lionel to get a feel on what is cost effective or marketable to make and sell.

What this list tells me is that the "market" of people on this forum knows what IS and HAS ALREADY BEEN available.   They already have a version of what's been offered with some exceptions of what someone might have missed out on.

Personally I'm waiting for what I want....until it's offered I'm ok with what I have.

1. McKeen Motorcar & Trailer O scale, tinplate, or both

2. 45-50 ton center cab diesel switcher with siderods

3. A late 1880's to 1900 vintage 4-6-0 high wheeled passenger loco' perhaps a

camelback version

4. Steam locomotive cab/crew figures that wave their arms

If there is to be a list of product that we modelers would like to purchase if made my first choice would be in the Lionmaster line would be a New York Central 4-8-4. The scale size model is rather pricy and requires at least 060 curves on Fast Track although many locomotives that are advertised as minimum curve of 060 or 054 do operate fine on 048 curves. I own 3 Lionmaster steam locomotives and they all operate nicely and pull lots of freight or passenger cars with ease.

Or how about a Russian TE10 diesel? That would be the ultimate test of a smoke unit.

Let MTH make the Russian TE10 then. Personally I don't think Lionel will ever make a European train ever.

More LionChief Plus; perhaps with the ability to reprogram to any of the LionChief handhelds, as should be possible with 2.4 GHz DSS radios, at least in theory.

More obscure New York Central and New Haven rolling stock and locos from various eras.

More operating accessories and a continuation of the Postwar Celebration Series, either with LionChief capabilities or Legacy/Legacy "Lite."

Actually Lionel did in fact make a European train; the Hall-Class 2-6-0 & coaches for the Hogwarts Express from the Harry Potter movie, and the same train redecorated as the Great Western and the Shakespeare Express.  I think they even did it in a couple of X - mas themed sets as well.

Besides the Hogwarts Express. Still I don't think they will make any other european trains at all. MTH holds that market here in the US for European O-Gauge.

Bring back the Postwar Celebration Series, and/or the Conventional Classics. Or make one series of reissues in both Legacy, and conventional versions.

For scale steam, the PRR S-1 Duplex in the unskirted version, or the T-1 in the unsirted version with the portholes. VL Allegheny in C&O, and Virginian, instead of making coal hoppers for them make a mixed freight set. Give them the same features as the Big Boy, and the idea someone mentioned earlier of a waving engineer sounds pretty cool.

Modern Diesels. The AC4400CW.

Accessoies. Reissue all the classics. Charlie Nassau mentioned they were making and accessories catalog in 2015, so I don't know if they are in the works already. I think a cool idea to make a version of the sawmill like they have now and make it with a loader like the AF version, Kind of "mash" the two together.

Here we go. I would be in for the Timken engine and the following Northern pacific engines... W-3, F-3, Z-3 or 4, Z-5 Yellowstone, A-4 Northern, Q-(1-5) pacific, and the glory of all glory the Z-8 challenger....

Oh and the coal tipple as an operating accessory...

Hey how did that C&O GW get in there... well a legacy version would be cool...

J Daddy I totallty agree with you on the NP steam engines. I really would like to see Lionel make a NP A-3 class northern in NP and SP&S 700. I would probably get SP&S 700.

I think so. That would be pretty **** cool if you ask. I would really get a set of the 50th anniversary cars if they were reissued in the 21 inch cars.

"I would assume that Lionel still has the old K-line tooling?"

I'm afraid they don't.  They leased it.  It belongs to Sanda Kan who are owned by the same investors who own Bachmann. Sanda Kan is not producing anything for Lionel

or other non-Williams, non-Bachmann vendors at last reports on the subject.  It's one reason Atlas, Lionel and others had to find other manufacturers during the last few years.

And what is so frustrating is the tooling for some of they engines they already have! Just a few tweaks here and there, and they could easily release these...

The SP&S is another beautiful engine, maybe some day.

Man if Lionel did the right number for the GS-4 daylight in 2007. What I mean by right is the only surviving GS-4 left on this planet which is 4449. That would be one of the things I would be doing with SP&S 700 and 4449 is double heading them.

The Bombardier Bi-Level Passenger cars were made by K-Line and have been in storage in China since K-Line was taken apart. The people at Lionel could buy the tools and molds that have been already made.

Andrew

I agree, Andrew.

I've got the Bombardier K-Line cars in VRE, Cal Train, and Metrolink.  I have the matching F59PH for the VRE and Metrolink cars and an F40PH for the Cal Train cars.
