Well, preordering time for the Lionel 2014 catalog is over (I ordered an SP Daylight Cab Forward).  Now it's time to start thinking about the future!  It seems that Lionel has been listening to the customer more (Heavy Mikados, Whistle Steam, etc.).  So, let's make a list to tell Lionel what we want!  It will be divided into categories:

Vision Line
Scale Steam
Scale Diesel
Freight
Passenger
Traditional
Accessories
Track/Power/Control

Please post your lists below!

Here's my list-
VL: ATSF Warbonnet F Unit ABBA's with Die Cast Shells, Sound smoke and power in each unit, and a new feature like waving engineer
Passenger cars to go with F units including super detail, station sounds, and maybe walking passengers
Allegheny with depleting coal load and waving engineer
Hoppers to go with Allegheny with freight sounds
Scale Steam: Smaller, less expensive Legacy engines such as 2-8-0 or Camelback
Legacy UP FEF, SP MT-4 and ATSF 1800 all with Whistle Steam
Scale Diesel: FP45, CF7, EA, E5, E6, etc.
Freight: Front Runners, Centerflow Hoppers, more N5B's, etc.
Passenger: SP Harriman Commuter Cars for MT-4, UP excursion cars for FEF
Traditional: RETURN OF LIONMASTER!!!
More Lionchief Plus (Berk Jr., New Tooling, etc.)
Accessories: Smoke fluid loader, more innovative items
TPC: 2 train transformer between GW-180 and ZW-L
Legacy Lite (remote in Lionchief casing, quillable whistle via button intensity pressing, single shot bell, electrocouplers, crew talk tower com, smoke on off, volume control, and able to select different engines) with a Base Lite and is able to talk to Legacy Base
Scale track system to compete with Atlas, Scaletrax and Ross

That's my list.  Please post yours below.  Thanks!

It would be cool if Lionel did an official poll for a customer determined engine.  I wonder if the items for C1 for 2015 are already determined.  Maybe Mike will chime in.

As far as wish list Vision Line items....

ATSF Madame Queen

0-6-0 Switch Engine

Tank Engine

ATSF F3

Vision Line Caboose with real wood sides, flickering fire light in the stove with highly detailed interior and sounds (no cab chatter just freight sounds)

I'm going to be somewhat small in my desires, but I do hope that Lionel will listen to all of us and be able to find a happy medium:

Vision Line:

-Reading 4-8-4 T-1's with whistle steam and blow-down - in multiple roadnames and numbers

Scale Steam:

-Nickel Plate Road #587 2-8-2 USRA Light Mikado (with the Berkshire tender) with whistle steam smoke. (This one I'd love to see made most. Be the first to make it Lionel!)

-New York Central J3A 4-6-4 Hudson with whistle steam smoke

-New York Central L3A 4-8-2 Mohawk (with and without elephant ears) with whistle steam smoke

Traditional:

-Conventional Classics #1430WS Lionel Lines Set with a #2025 K5 2-6-2 Steamer and 3 Green and Yellow 2400 series passenger cars

Lionchief:

-Edward the Blue Engine (Thomas the Tank Engine line)

-Toby the Tram Engine (Thomas the Tank Engine line)

Again, I want to say we all appreciate the hard work you put in all your products Lionel, and we appreciate listening to even the smallest suggestions. Thank you.

I'll second a Legacy J3a, how about an optional PT tender.

A Legacy Niagara, WITHOUT all of the issues that the TMCC version has.Bring back that Niagara whistle in quillable form, its one of Lionels best.

Neither of these locos has ever been offered in 13 years, there has already been legacy remakes of most others. We seem to get berkshires and mohawks over and over.

MOW equipment:

Something similar to the MTH UP Weed Sprayer

UP Harsco TRT-909 (Track Renewal Train) This is an all in one unit that moves along the tracks and replaces old rail road ties with new ones. Would be great to see some highly detailed die-cast MOW pieces.

The Ethanol tank train set had accelerometers associated with sound boards in 2 of the tanks with wheel, brake, track squealing sounds. How great would it be to have more cars like this or better still Boards that could be used to upgrade existing cars and have them set up to be adapted to the Legacy system.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear that product announcements for 2015 are already well-underway.  But Lionel's track record for product delivery is nowhere near the science that you're inferring.  There just seem to be far to many factors in the overseas Asian labor market right now that are beyond the control of any of the big name toy train importers to give us any comfort level that products will be delivered on time.

With Lionel's Mike R in his new role, I'd say Lionel probably has the best chance in years to make a majority of the product delivery ETA's.  So we'll all be watching closely to compare 2014 product deliveries with those over the past several years.  But even Mike is just one guy, and so much goes on overseas that happens behind lots of smoke and mirrors.
