I would like to see that plus an accurate sound system. I have the H-9 from 2002, and it looks great, pulls great, but has a less than stellar sound system.

Today's Legacy has a far superior chuff system, but the H-10 should also have a banshee whistle if they really want somebody who already has the H-9 to buy the new engine. The whistle they put in the H-9 is far too deep, and destroys the effect.

Lionel's H10 is really a model of an H9.  Since I did not buy the earlier H9, I would prefer Lionel goes back to calling it an H9 with an H9 cab number.

Or better yet, Lionel produces a more accurate H10 by replacing the cow catcher with a footboard pilot and removes the snifters (those round valves where the steam pipes meet the cylinders).   Add the banshee whistle and I'd add it to my buy list.

There are a lot of us hoping we are not left with half a set.  There are a few cars that could be done without too much effort, like the 2nd generator car and the storage cars.  But the two showcase cars, four remaining crew cars, three 85' flatcars, and 85' tool car would be new tooling for Lionel.  It would be nice to get some info from Lionel on what their plans are for these cars. 

If they are making 40' trailers, why not make the 60's era 85' flat cars?

The O scale PS-5 gondola has not been produced in the SOUTHERN scheme yet. ILLINOIS CENTRAL, SOO LINE, and ELGIN, JOLIET & EASTERN had similar gondolas. Why not those?

Probably not in 2018 Vol 2, I see Nicholas Smith is offering an exclusive PRR K4 #295 with E6 tender, Lionel item number 1831070.  Their website has info on it.

The newest episode of the Ryan and Dave show discussed the Freedom Train passenger cars.  It was a question posed from the viewing audience, and the response was essentially they will be coming, but not in this next catalog.

"Muddy tooling"? 700E? Don't be silly.

The J3a above - I have a couple - gorgeous - could reasonably be produced again, but, unless they bring it out in the "J3a 2.0" version (raised running boards/relocated power reverse and air reservoirs, Worthington FWH, PT-4 tender), I would not buy another.

It's not that I prefer version 2.0 - I love them both, but I lean a skosh to the as-built version, above - but I personally would not need another original, as the VL whizz-bangs are of no interest to me. So, new/modified tooling would be essential. Also, the "Selkirk" smokebox front would have to appear on some of them.

There's a fair amount of new stuff for 2019 (perhaps not new tooling, but nobody but Lionel is doing much new tooling these days in any case).

American Flyer U33s, many UP Challengers other than the fantasy scheme, Alco PAs, lots of Thomas stuff, lots of MOW cars, Light Mikados, all in multiple road names, for instance.  Search under "new" and then look for the 2019 designation.

The Hiawatha S-3 Northern fantasy scheme didn’t bother me because it was clearly derived from paint schemes the Milwaukee Road featured on its streamlined Class A Atlantic in 1935 and F-7 Hudson in 1938. Those schemes came from an artist’s eye and were carefully considered as part of the railroad’s marketing.

This U.P. Challenger scheme is a hodge podge of paint unlike anything U.P. ever did, or would ever care to do. Ugh!

Well, remember that this soon to be out catalog would have repeats, we all should know that since it was stated somewhere around here. As for the VL Challenger, I'll think about the normal ones. I will have to see when the new catalog comes out, what exactly peaks my interest. I'm always interested in rolling stock, so, see what else would be coming.

What is an interest is how their shipping list seems to be all over the place. Some things that were supposed to be out in July, now are up in the air as evident with the dates moved to December. I know Ryan had said in one of the TW vids(I believe) that he was pushing to try and get the Niagara's in September. I believe that they are still listed for October since that was his original target quote as he said last October at the unavailing.

I did see the PA's, but I think I will pass on those because I'm a big steamhead. Well, see what comes in the V1 2019 catalog in February/March next year.

My eyes hurt looking at that thing. I prefer Freddie Krueger. How about a five stripe Challenger in tuscan? Wait . . .  I have it . . . . a scale Hogwarts Challenger with Harry in the depleting Quiddich tender.

I just checked the online store an hour ago and saw that they have the Detroit, Toledo & Ironton 86' boxcars in blue, green, and pink. 

Then they have to have O scale C&O Chessie gondolas, DT&I gondolas, EJ&E gondolas, and South Shore Gondolas.

I will have to spread out the gondolas over a few months.

They have the Central Vermont RS-11 diesel locomotives in the final bright green and bright yellow scheme. There were CV GP9 diesel locos in that scheme operating on the Grand Trunk Western, so perhaps the CV RS-11 will be a substitute.

I like many of Lionel's fantasy paint schemes (I was a big fan of the SP AC-9 in Daylight).  But this new UP Challenger is...not attractive.

Nice to see some non-powered locomotives return to the line-up and some Aussie power!!

Agreed. If I had 2 grand to spend on either this or a 2011 Vision Challenger, I’d take the old Challenger without saying a thing. It’s unique, but not a good unique. And the thing that really gets me is the the maroon lining around the wheels. Ewww... 🤮

I’d prefer an actual Legacy ‘49er. I wouldn’t buy that, period.
