Lionel 6-18027 Dreyfuss Hudson

I've seen one of these, years ago. Very detailed.

But, and I certainly may be mis-remembering, weren't these only offered in 2-rail

format? I have a hazy recollection of that; I've done no current research on it.

Of course, that may be just fine.

I don't remember for the Smithsonian models, but the under body is indeed lit on the later die-cast Lionel model and also on 3rd Rail's model.

6-18027 was the 3 rail version. 6-18026 was the 2 rail version. I believe the matching passenger cars were 2 rail only.

I see one of these is listed on Nassau Hobby's website; if this is the one you are asking about, Charlie could confirm whether or not the drivers are illuminated.

MTH's premier Dreyfusses all have illuminated drivers and look fantastic IMO.

The Lionel die-cast Dreyfuss - I have one - also has driver illumination.

I have 6-28084 which is 3 rail and has lighted drivers.  I also have the matching 15" cars.  They all look great except I wish the cars were longer, at least 18".

Unless the Smithsonian engine was later modified, it does not have Railsounds 2.5
