Hello: After cleaning and lubing, the trolley, it only runs in one direction. The trolley was running a bit rough, but running in both directions. So I took it apart to clean and lube. Naturally, the soldered wires broke and I did not have a picture - big mistake. So, I pulled out my Greenberg and looked at the wiring diagram and read the related post on this forum. There are three (3) wires coming out of the winding - all the same color! Two (2) wires exit the bottom front of the winding, one on each side. The third wire exits the winding at the top  front. I have no clue as to which wire is the "field", assuming the other two are the separate windings for the reversing function.

I have attached a sketch, as viewed from the reversing plate. I omitted the light wiring for clarity. I have soldered the trolley per the sketch and it only runs in one direction. Can someone give me some wiring guidance here? I stripped the trolley down and cleaned everything and made sure the ground spring is making good contact and the reversing spring is making contact with the two contact points under the reversing plate.

Also, unlike my #50 Gang Car and every other locomotive I own, I am unable to move the drive axle with my thumb and in turn watch the armature rotate. The drive gear looks good, as does the meshing gear ground onto bottom of the armature shaft. All are freshly lubricated. Is this peculiar to the #60 trolley?

Many thanks.

The trolley has a single lead worm.  You should not be able to spin the armature by turning the wheels. A single lead worm locks if attempted to turn it from the output end.  Your wiring may be correct, can not tell for sure from your diagram.   The field coil has a center connection, which attaches to one brush holder. Grounding either of the coil end connections will cause the car to run one way or the other. If both ends get grounded, the car goes no where.  You need to be sure that only one wire gets grounded at a time and that the center connection is the one going to the brush holder.

Thanks, David. I found my problem. One of the field coil wires is broken where it exits the black plastic winding frame, That is the 2nd wire I needed to connect to the brush contact. Any idea how I might coax some of that wire out of the coil or splice onto it? Hate to toss the Trolley into the parts pile.

Thanks.
