It may need a new tether.
You maybe be right, not sure they are available.
I have the same problem with my A5. My LC+ Mikado too. GRJ do you repair these?
The LC+ Mikado may be a different issue, those have the oddball drawbar, without a model number it's hard to say what can be done.
The TMCC A5 I'm assuming is the K-Line by Lionel model from 2009, I have several of them.

Sadly, the 6-pin tether is not available, so it may be significant work to retrofit a new tether setup if you can't find one of these.

Thanks, a solution may not be possible. EBay may have an A5 in not so good condition that's available for a cheap price.
Sounds like I'm not the only one with this problem.

Very common issue, I used to have a bunch of tethers, I've used all but one up, I'm saving that for when one of my two craps out!
