Would be nice if you could get matching paint from the parts dept. Who could match it better.

As far as I know, Weaver is the only manufacturer that sells matching paint. Weaver uses Scalecoat paint for most or all of their products, and you can buy Scalecoat on their website. It's available both in acrylic and solvent-based.

It would be nice but it's not going to happen anytime soon. The paint is done in China and is mixed for each locomotive run. You won't get an exact match with multiple runs of the same locomotive. Let's take the Brute and the Brute cars for example. They are very close but not a 100% match. But that is only something you would know if you touched up the Brute engine with the Brute passenger car paint. This is a universal problem far beyond the hobby. In clothing different runs of the same item will have a slight color variation. That's one of the reasons all your high end men's suits don't come as separates. The coloring can be a mismatch, one you may not see until you go outside on a bright day.
