Under the heading of not being electronically savvy.............I am going to add the Base3 to my layout..........I was also going to add either the the PH180 and/or the Legacy Powermaster. Is one more anvantageous than the other or do I need both. I want to move away from using the traditional transformer.

A PH180 is a constant output power supply.  The Powermaster is used in line with the Powerhouse (PH180) to vary the voltage from it to the track if you are planning to run conventional equipment.

If you have all command locomotives you only need the PH180.

Just for clarity sake, currently the App does have an issue controlling the Powerhouse in certain modes of operation (using TR).  Cab1L and Cab2 remotes seem to work fine.  There is a work around programming the Powermaster as an ENG.
