Just installed a new transformer the Lionel GW-180 and am trying to figure out the voltage on the throttle.

I usually run my trains in the 14-16 volts area.   My old transformer clearly marked what I was running at.

Is there a chart or did someone figure out what the throttle markings correspond to volts?  I don't have any electrical test kits to check out the voltage.   My rolling stock consists of a number of lighted cars and  I don't want to burn out the bulbs prematurely by running at a higher voltage.

Thanks

George

According to the GW180 manual the throttle is marked in % of Power output.  At a given throttle position the Output Voltage will go up or down depending on the combined electrical Load (number of motors, cars being pulled, curves, lights, etc.).

Since the GW180/PH180 combo puts out variable 0-18VAC, a throttle setting of around 75 - 90% should be about 14-16 volts, depending on the load.
