I purchased a used Lionel Hobo Tower 6-24104 wired it according to the directions. It worked great for the first few days and today I pushed the button and nothing. I checked all the wiring and checked the pins on the tower to make sure everything was good and it all looks good. Any suggestions on why its not working would be a great help. Thank you all in advance.

Since the speaker is in the tower, I would reseat it A few times to make sure it is making good contact. If you have an ohm meter you can touch the connections on the tower and you should hear a slight pop or crackle as you touch it. That would at least rule out the speaker.
Thanks Marty, Let me try that.
Don't leave the ohm meter on the speaker. Just attach 1 lead and tap the other. You should hear a pop or static.
Thanks, Speaker checks good. Checked the push button switch and that seems to be working just fine. I really hope the sound board didn't go bad.
Does the fire light up? Also there is a volume control. Did someone turn it down on you?
Camp fire Lights up. Checked the volume. One of the first things I checked. Turned up and down, reseated the tower several times, took some fine sand paper and gently roughed up the pins. Still nothing. I was reading a older post about a hobo tower and it was said that if the fire works, then the sound should also. IDK.....
You could jumper where the sound activation button connects. But it sound like you rule out that circuit.
Thanks Marty, I tried just running one wire from each connection on the base of the tower and eliminated the push button but still nothing. Also someone commented about a battery?? Is there a battery for this? At this point I am thinking the board is bad, not sure why it would just go bad. I am using the track power for supply. Would I have spiked the volts running in command control since the power throttle was in full? Since its only a 4x8 layout I am using a MTH Z1000 power brick.
No battery. I have had mine hooked off 16v transformer output for power.
ok well thanks for helping Marty. I guess the board is bad and I will have to look for a replacement. I have tried just about everything. Someone on the other post I was reading said they had the board. If not guess I will order one from Lionel. Thanks again Marty. Happy New Year to you.
