I finally made it over to the LHS yesterday, after several whirlwind weekends of traveling up and down the Eastern Seaboard, to pick up my new Legacy E6 Atlantic.

As it appears there is an entirely separate smoke unit for the whistle, how much smoke should I be putting into this unit?

...And for you "read the manual" guys (I'm one of them), the manual is wrong - it refers to cylinder steam in this engine and makes no mention of the whistle.

Dave Olson reports that the fluid goes directly in the hole where the whistle steam comes out and yes the manual is wrong. I would start with 16-20 drops to start. Then refill as needed. When adding the initial amount I'd add 8, let it sit for a couple minutes and then add more. Gently blowing in the hole after each time to get it into the batting.

And use Lionel premium fluid only.

Thanks, I'll make a note for that amount. I'll have to call Lionel tomorrow anyway - it ran beautifully on the test track at the LHS yesterday and I finally got time to run it at home a few minutes ago. Only made it a few minutes before it totally croaked with no signs of life.  Guess my lucky streak of perfect, out of the box Lionel Legacy locos has run out.
