Do I really send this back for warranty over a bulb or is there an easy way to test if it's the bulb or power from the board? One ditch light works, the other stays out. Received new.

The ditch lights are LED's, a 1K resistor and a 9V battery will test them. Pull the connector from the board and power them from the battery through the 1K resistor. If they don't light one way, reverse the connections. If the bulb is bad, it won't light with either polarity.

With a 1k resistor and 9v both will light up with positive to gray and negative to black. This is obviously with the connector removed.
Sounds like it's farther down the line. Look the junction board over carefully for connections and then the wiring to the RCMC. If it's not wiring, you are probably looking at an issue with the RCMC.
Did you do a reset as per the User's Manual?

Did a factory reset as per manual. Now both are out lol. Shipping it out tomorrow.

And no I didn't overlook the aux 2. Plus lights between the number boards work.
My luck with new Lionel engines is just becoming comical at this point. It's funny yet sad that a problem or defect won't even make me blink anymore. I'm happy my engine roster is complete as of this weekend for a long time to come.

Had an SD70ace where one of the ditch lights did not work, opened it up and one wire was pulled out of the connector, don't think they were able to fix it. Not even enough slack to allow for assembly & disassembly from chassis . Not sure how they expected the poor Chinese person to assemble it.
