I have a set of some heavy aluminum norfolk western passenger cars that lionel produced. They are not the silhouette ones rather they are lighted with people in them. I really like them but would like to make them more realistic with diaphragms on them. Has anyone ever retrofitted yours? If so where did you get the parts and how did you affix them? I took a picture of the back of the baggage car. I will be in York if anyone knows if the parts available there.

First, what radius track do you intend to run them on? And how close do you want the diaphragm ends to be?
John, just around the doors.
Bobby, probably will run it on the O54 portion of the layout. Does not needs to be real close as do not want it to derail the cars.
Scale City Design has some nice ones, I've seen a few of the old Weaver ones for sale as well.
I'm sure you will get great suggestions from the guys here.

Just for information, what you are seeing on the end of that car actually represents a full width diaphragm.
I have used mhp brand diaphragms for my o scale trolleys, I will use them on my passenger cars too. Here is a link to a bunch on eBay:

Great to point that out Jim. We sometimes forget how many "kids" from the 50's through now these cars have brought wonder and enjoyment with their design.
