Hello all,

Does anyone out there know more about the Pere Marquette 1225 with TMCC (6-38052)? I think Lionel made them along with some other scale berks back in 2003 but that's about all I know about them. Any info on it would be appreciated. Just to clarify, I'm talking about the older version with TMCC not the newer Legacy ones.

P.S. if you have one, feel free to post some pics.

Thanks guys,

-Scott

Scott,

I do not own any Berkshire engines but I would be willing to bet the older TMCC Berk looks just about the same as a newer Legacy Berk. I own a PRR TMCC J1, a PRR TMCC M1a and a PRR TMCC Y3. All look the same as the newer Legacy versions that were produced in recent years. In fact I have a K-Line TMCC PRR K4 and it looks exactly like the Legacy K4s produced in 2010..........which is Perfect. I love my K4 s.

Scott,

My guess is this is the same vintage as my 6-38076 C&O Berkshire.  Based on what I've seen, Lionel just updated the "innards" of the engine when changing to Legacy.  The outer appearance is the same from what I can tell.  Mine runs very smoothly.  The only thing is that it came with only 2 chuffs per revolution.  I changed mine to 4 by using 4 magnets on one of the drive wheels and a new reed switch.  The upgrade didn't take more than an hour and I'm happy with the results (sorry for the video quality):

Scott,

I believe you can actually buy the 1225 Legacy sound board and replace what is in the engine currently and replace it with the new one with the correct whistle.  GunrunnerJohn should be able to tell you if that is possible.  I think I did this on some of my upgrades, and soon Lionel will have its 1/2 off parts sale.
