Lionel Postwar Burro Crane and Associated Special Hopper Car Sell for 85,000

Never heard of it either, but I'm in for details.

I found this web page, which claims that there is a prototype 3360 Burro crane worth 85,000. But no mention of a hopper.

I don't know where they get their information. It certainly would not be worth 85,000 to me.

I found the same picture on two additional sites. One site claims the price was realized on Ebay.

  

Some people do have WAY too much money if some of those things actually sell for the prices they listed. Some of those prices are just amazing and all are definitely WAY above my pay grade. Interesting to see what the 'Have's' spend their money on though.

BTW, we sell item number 3 on our web site!

I just paid 85,000 for something...but not a train. I paid that price for our newly rehabbed 3-bedroom rowhouse in Northeast Philadelphia! It's the first house we've owned, and there's plenty of room in the third bedroom and basement for a new layout.

 

Looking forward to some new layout construction in the next few weeks (we have a carpet central up now in the third bedroom).

I think someone just made this stuff up.  Then someone else claims it a 'fact' because they saw in on the internet.  Much like modern day politics!

Not that I would pay 85K for it, but "the prototype" is the determining phrase. 

It was 8500.00 and I know the owner of the crane :-)

The photo shown of this $85,000.00 prototype is a modern burro crane with an HO clamshell from Crowriver. It was originally posted on another forum in 2014. Not saying that someone did not pay that kind of money for it.
