I own the green single stripe version of the JLC GG-1.  I noticed that the engine draws near two amps according to my zw-l meter. Turning the smoke unit on or off does not make any difference in the power draw. At start up its initial draw is over one amp and when I increase speed it goes up to two amps.  It stays consistent with its power draw.  Pulling a load or running alone does not seem to affect it.   I've taken the engine apart and lubed both gear boxes. I can turn the motors by hand and encounter no binding. Is this the normal draw for this engine.  It runs fine. There is no hesitation.  Speed is smooth.

I run large steamers - y3, m1a, t1... and their power draw is always less than one amp.  Why would the GG-1 be so high?

I got the engine last Christmas as a gift.  It was new old stock from a dealer.  I can only assume it's been like this since i got it. I never bothered to check the meter before on the ZW-l. I just happen to notice when i was running it a few nights ago.
