On rolling stock, are Marx and Lionel truck axles and wheels interchangeable? I have a bunch of Marx rolling stock that I'm rehabbing. The wheels and axles are rusty, and I'm thinking it'd be easiest just to cannibalize parts off low-cost Lionel rolling stock that I can acquire on the cheap via ebay BINs.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

There's a lot of Marx out there. Probably cost less per car than buying Lionel. Might even cost less to replace than repair.
I have never swapped them on cars but I have on non powered diesel trucks.
Which type Marx wheel do you need?

It gets tricky. There are a number of different Marx axle lengths. The best line of Marx wheels, the solid diecast, are larger diameter than Lionel. Like Steve said, specifics are needed.
