Is there any protective film covering the windows?

No, no protective film.

kind of reminds me of what happens when you try to hook up a component video connection using composite connections. maybe some bad traces/solder joints. on the other hand, it also kind of reminds me of infrared, does it have a “night mode” of some kind?

Is that using the Lionel app? Somehow it doesn't look right...besides not having no picture.

Yes, using the Lionel app. Tried it with two different phones hoping it was a phone issue. Same on both.

Broken I guess...must link up the wifi but the cam is covered or broken.

had same problem with my csx  it is the plastic widow. that covers the cam. i had to take it apart and take out the window, but be careful of the wires and the disassemble

I don’t think it’s the window!  That would only cause it to be unclear! I think it might be “Broke”! I have one of these and it works fine & is perfectly clear!         ( without removing the window )
