The lighting and figures in your first scene look like a perfect spring or summer day on a nice neighborhood street. But, I'm really intrigued by your second scene. What a great assemblage of buildings for your little people. The cafe, the carpet store, and the home improvement store.
Was there a particular inspiration for this corner or the individual buildings? I can see it as the perfect backdrop for a period noir detective graphic novel.
What a great study. Wouldn't mind being a character on your layout this morning :-). After coffee of course, perhaps the Cafe is serving this early?

I have to agree with Tom'. Both pics are terrific'. But I've gone back several times to the second one. It is intriguing. The mix among the newer model cars, and then you have the 57 Olds. That could be the ~`Private Eye's car'.. I don't see a Vera though'.. But indeed, what a great scene'.. this is another example of excellent O Gauge, scale modeling'.... We don't require trains in every scene to show case great (O) modeling.........

TomlinsonRunRR, and Quarter Gauger48, Thank you, both, for what you said and for taking the time and effort to post your remarks about my layout modeling. I much appreciate the kindness.
I enjoy having little people busy doing stuff, though, highlighted by nearby or attendant vehicles.
Regarding vehicles, they are something I have indulged myself with all along, as the layout grew and evolved. I realize, of course, that the vehicles I have presented in the various vignettes are not true to any specific era, but they gave me a smile when I bought them and put them in-place.
However, I do try to keep particular scenes generally, or at least vaguely true, to a time period.
Also, a major factor in their choices has also been that when we have had children visit the layout , if they have shown marked interest in any particular vehicle, we have always invited them to life it off the layout and take it home with them. So, that keeps an inventory roll-over operative, and we have great fun in the giving.

You are very welcome Frank'... I've commented on your fabulous modeling many times. You deserve the accolades... Your layout and modeling is superb. Nice to see youngsters like the cars and have interest in them.... Kids generally never forget that type of kindness as they grow up... Generosity goes a long ways........

Ted, I wish I could make that, it came all together, this is one of the rare ones I put on the layout as is. Of course the Brewery was 3D printed.
JerryB,
Needs a solid fence and hidden parking in the back.
Are those playground swings in front of it? Hmmm, kids playing while Dad plays too

Derailment approximately 5 p.m. Sunday April 5 on westbound freight 119. Two open hoppers loaded with coal jumped the track. No one was injured and not even one lump of coal was spilled. Here we see crews arrive on the scene just minutes after the derailment occurred. Heavy equipment is making it's way to the scene and should arrive in about one hour. It's going to be a long evening!

If you want to add your own baseball game to your layout, two sources can be found on the internet. Scenic Express offers four sets of 1/50 scale youth ballplayers in four set of 7 or 8 players each, all prepainted. Unfortunately, three-fourths of the figures are excited spectators and not in the game. These figures are priced at about $3 each. The second option is a set of 13 unpainted, cast-metal figures in 1/64 (S) scale for $15. This group, which could represent a youth team (middle school?) in O scale, includes one umpire, a batter, one base-runner, and 10 defensive players including pitcher and catcher. O scale figures would be appropriate for the managers and spectators.

LP for today:
Everyone is happy today in Patsburg!
The Rooftop 5 Plus One bluegrass band performs for a small but appreciative audience on the roof of Engine Co. 5.
Mr. Donahue exits Don's Barber Shop reading the stock report.
Buford Clements ,with beer in hand, thinks twice before driving his Woody. Otis Tucker, with plenty of beer in belly and one in hand, staggers around the parking lot. Workers stack up the beer at the Beer Depot in anticipation of the weekend rush.

That last picture must be "Beer Heaven." LOL

This stream has been very impressive! My question is twofold:
1. Where do you get such unique figures?
2. What is the process for painting them?
Thank you

Little People of Patsburg 4/15/2020
MOW crew takes a breather at dusk.
Laura Lou tries at her new jumprope, sister Kate cuts the lawn, Timmy in race car 7 and Steven in race car 2. Fun times!!
Old retired railroaders and few other folk like to congregate down at the switch tower to shoot the breeze, laugh and watch trains.
Gordy - the Sealtest milkman makes his morning rounds as Mr. Charles steps onto his porch.
A Corvette drives by as the children play as a B&O C-16 waits for the green signal.
Little Sarah contemplates the swings as Mom looks on from the porch. ( btw - that Lionel N&W covered hopper is my first add on car, received from Santa at 5 years old. I received my first Lionel train set the year before ... 2065 steamer freight set which I still have fully intact. )
