Have changes been made recently to the log in page ? I haven't been here as often as I used to be and it seems that when I click on the bookmark for the forum I go straight in without having to sign the log in page. Oh, and by the way, I can't find the log out page either.

Dan , I believe that you can log right on because you have not logged out . If you click on your avatar at the top right of the page , there is a drop -down menu that should appear . Signing off is the last item on the menu . Jim
I have noticed the same thing as Dan. I never log off, and this was never an issue. But recently, almost every day, if I try to post, I have to re-login.
There is definitely some sort of change that has occurred. At the top left corner of the page is a menu. If I click on the menu a drop down appears with choices to make. I don't recall this method being the norm just a couple of weeks ago.
Nothing has changed on our end of things.

Using my iPad to access the forum, that menu has been there as long as I can remember.
I don't want to prolong this topic, however for a few days my avatar was not showing on the upper right of the page. Instead there was a menu on the upper left. To access my profile page I had to click on the menu then click on my name, then click on activity for instance.
Okay, I'm a bit more confused than I normally am. The last couple of nights my avatar appeared in the upper right corner of the screen. Tonight it's not there. Instead I see the little "Menu" indication in the upper left corner. What's going on ?
At the risk of sounding sarcastic, I suspect no one knows why the forum format keeps changing for me.

Especially since it doesn't seem to be "changing" for anybody else.

Dan, I don't know what you are seeing that changes, but nothing has changed in the layout and format of this forum for over a year. If it had, I would be swamped with questions and emails about it. You are the only person having this issue right now, and I suspect you've got something going on with your computer that is changing things.
If your Avatar was not showing in the upper right corner of the screen, it means you were not logged in. Your browser trashed the login cookie which would require you to log in again.
That's what is odd. Since i joined OGR last winter, my avatar was showing up. Then a week or so ago it wasn't there. Then for two or three days it was back. Now it's gone again. I have the forum bookmarked and the screen goes right to the log in page when I click on the bookmark. I haven't changed anything on the computer recently either.
It's not really a big deal because I can access my avatar by going to the tiny menu indication at the top left of the screen.
Dan,
For what it's worth, I NEVER "log out", and haven't for more than 2 years. Why bother to log out at all?
If your Avatar is not showing, it means you are not logged in. Do you have to enter your login credentials and log in to make it appear again?
Like Jack, I also never log out, on ANY of my computers. The OGR Office, my home machine, my laptop and iPad all log in automatically every time I visit here. It doesn't hurt anything to stay logged in.
When I click on the bookmark for OGR it brings me to the log-in page. At that point I simply click the cursor on the white blank and it automatically fills in my username and password.
I log out because at the bottom of the forum page there is a section indicating who is logged in. If I'm not here, and someone is replying to a post I wrote, then it's kind of like not answering the door when someone comes knocking.

There is no harm in staying logged in here. That section indicating who is logged in does not display everyone who is logged in anyway. I think it only displays 50 maximum.
