Hello
Lionel 6-28273 SD 40 Diesel circa 2007.
This engine has the older modular boards. I had to replace the Radio Board and all works well now.
However, I lost the brake squeal. Seems to be the only feature that disappeared.
I tried a second Radio Board and re-seated all boards. I also completed all resets. No change.
Can anyone help me to understand this oddity?

Have you tried Factory reseting the engine via Program? It should have it in the manual. I did that with my 2010 big Boy several times, it helped with my issues.

Yes...all program re-sets completed to no avail.
Dave, background sounds, including brakes can be adjusted independently from engine sounds by pressing AUX1 and then the volume up key. You may need to do this a few times.

Using Legacy #990. Other Legacy engines working fine with brake squeal.

Maybe GRJ or someone more familiar with legacy sounds and controls will jump in.
