The Toronto Railway Historical Association has restored its LRC locomotive, the former VIA Rail 6917, to operating condition. With a consist of three cars graciously provided by VIA, the locomotive was put through low speed testing earlier this week in Toronto. Jason Shron, Proprietor of Rapido Trains, is a member of the association and used the opportunity to record along with ESU the sounds of the 6917 at work for his upcoming HO model. The successful testing of the locomotive marked a very momentous occasion for the association as its dedicated members have worked extremely hard to reach this point. Congratulations and best wishes to them as the restoration project continues.

Good for them!  I hope they have many successful trips with the LRC.

If my ears were hearing correctly, it sounded like the engine stayed revved up to provide HEP voltage and the throttle increased or decreased the excitation of the main alternator, something like what is done one EMD F40PH units.

Was I hearing correctly, or does the engine RPM increase and decrease in response to throttle commands?
