Hi everyone! I have a big problem with a Marx 999, the commutator slips on its shaft! I've tied all types of glue and washers for this but it keeps breaking free. It needs to be replaced. How can the commutator be replaced without pulling the wheels off?

The armature needs to come out to replace the commutator, and the wheels need to come off to get the armature out. The commutator is a press fit on the armature shaft.

I can get the armature off without removing the wheels. Is it possible to squeeze the commutator out without removing the wheels?
If the entire armature comes out without removing the wheels, then the commutator can be replaced easily. If not, the wheels need to come off. The commutator is a press fit on the armature shaft. If you can be maneuver the chassis and press on the commutator without removing the armature, then you can repair the armature, but you are doing it the hard way.

Does anyone have any tips on removing the wheels ?
I took mine apart to clean the armature after running it for a couple of days. But now the armature is locked up on something, when I push it toward the wheels and disengage the gears the wheels move freely but I can't rotate the armature.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Make sure the commutator is clocked properly. If not, the motor will have low power and get hot. Use another single reduction motor for reference.
It might be easier/cheaper to get another motor.
