I've recently got my Fathers 2036 Lionel engine up and running and now I'm looking for the matching coal tender. I've been told the original coal tender is not a whistler....the gentleman at the local train store wants to sell me a whistling coal tender but I would like to purchase a matching coal tender. I need to know the numbers of a matching coal tender for a 2036 engine.... thank you

Skippy, the tender that came with the 2036 is a whistler. It is 6466W. The 2036 came in set no. 1463W which I have and was my first train for Christmas in 1950. The 6466W came with the 2036 in the set and as a separate sale engine as documented in the 1950 Lionel catalog.
Thanks Vic for the info. I've been looking on E BAY for coal tenders and have seen several nice ones...I have my eye on a couple and two are 6466W coal tenders. Now I know what to look for. Thank you so much. Skippy

I can confirm this is true. In fact, this is one of my two original sets. Still have them both.
