Happy 12-12-12!  While a lot of the significance of the "triple dating" has been disproved over the past 12 years, it is kind of neat: It also won't happen again until 2101.

Back to railroad photos... Here are some shots taken on the final Pocono Holiday Limited, which Steamtown ran from Scranton to Gouldsboro, PA on Dec 2.

The station visit took us back further in time to the Victorian Era.  Here are some of the Vistorian characters we encountered.

Yesterday I checked our local foamer board and found some very sad news posted by the president of the Dakota Southern Railroad:

"Im very sad to report that Scotty Moore died last night. For anyone who got to
know him know how missed he will be. He was helping someone out of a wrecked
car on the interstate [I-90] and another car slid off the the road hitting him just
after he pushed the young lady out of the way of the on coming car. The DSRC
family is deeply saddened by this tragedy. Thanks Stan Patterson"

Scott was one of the nicest guys I've come across, and was an all around great human being.  I have no doubt he didn't think twice about pushing someone else to safety before trying to save himself.  He officially worked as conductor for the Dakota Southern, but as is the case with these very small shortlines he actually did far more than his job title suggested.  He was living trackside in the old MILW depot in White Lake, SD.  Scott will indeed be missed out here.
