Hello, everyone!  Welcome to March.  Our third month begins with memories on my part.  There are trains running all around, and last week's weather was sunny and warm, but I could not find a train in the yards when I went around, and did not want to photograph standing-still cars I have caught several times already.

So here are some memories:

From seven years ago.  February, 2010.  This is Old Forge, PA's station built by the Delaware Lackawanna & Western RR.  The rail line was originally Lackawanna & Bloomberg RR. It is about 5 miles from Scranton.

You might think that DL&W around Scranton would mean it is operated by Delaware Lackawanna, but no.  This is the Scranton Branch of the Reading & Northern now, stretching into the North end of Scranton via the old Keyser Valley shops track.

A mile or 2 south of Old Forge is this crossing in Duryea, PA.  No. 3055 is an SD40-2.  The boxcars carry alcohol, mostly wine, if I was told right.

And, from a year earlier, in downtown Scranton.  It was a big day when Central RR of New Jersey RS3 arrived in town coming "all the way" from Jim Thorpe, PA.  The Anthracite Railroads Historical Society sold the unit to Delaware Lackawanna for restoration.  It now runs.  Blue and Yellow C424 no 2423 also runs, and now sports the D-L two tone grey colors.

RS32 no 211 was one of the old reliable units on the railroad at that time.  I believe she runs on another RR now.

That is my contribution for this week.  If you have new, current and exciting photos, please add them to the thread.  Old tymie photos also fit in here, too.

Have a great week.  Talk to you next Wednesday.

I haven't been out much--partly due to weather, partly due to motivation.  When I get home from work I'm pretty tired!  However, there's nothing like hearing a local train getting a warrant on the radio to get me up off my butt.  A few nights ago I heard a grain train get a warrant for the BNSF Corson and Mitchell subs, and we were off to the races!  The roads were snow packed and that slowed me down, but I still managed to get off a shot north of Canton, SD.  I had no trouble beating the train to Lennox SD as it had slow orders for over a dozen miles.  Otherwise I had no chance on the slippery roads.  I caught it slowly rumbling over the wooden trestle on the west side of town.  Those wooden trestles are disappearing in the Orange Kingdom, so I'm shooting them while I can.  It's supposed to warm up considerably this weekend, and I'm already planning a trip out along the tracks!
