Good Wednesday, everyone!  Time once again for Midweek photos.  All contributions are welcome.

I went driving around to the various railroad yards in my area the other day, and not a whole lot was going on.  I noticed that the little railroad yard used by the Luzerne & Susquehanna RR is more fenced off than it used to be. The Sun messed with the photos a bit, but I was able to grab a couple of shots of this EMC SC model, number 11.

11 is not owned by the railroad, but by a couple of people who bought it from the late George Hart's estate. He had run it at the Stewartstown Railroad.

This U23B was also parked outside the engine shop along with this caboose.  Lehigh Railway is one of the other lines owned by the same company that owns Luzerne & Susquehanna.  The "L" runs on former Lehigh Valley tracks in upstate PA.

On another day, I took these photos of Reading Company units at Steamtown.  The massive 2124 is the first steam locomotive to greet people on their arrival at the park.

And the FP7 pair 902 and 903.  Now I hand you the thread.  Post any interesting photos you may have taken recently on the rails you have crossed.

Also, as the year is winding down, I ask that you think about the end of the year thread.  Over the past few years, on the "Midweek" between Christmas and New Years, I have been posting a photo or two of which trains I have chased, ridden or found for each of the 12 months.  Please think of how you want to add to that.  Even if you only post a sample such as one per season, or something else, it will give a fuller idea of what neat railroad action is available these days.

Have a great week! See you soon.

How about some Reading and Northern action from Labor Day:

During the day, there were two showers. The first one I was exploring the old CNJ tunnel, so I was able to stay dry. As for the second one, I was about 3 miles from the car, and about 1 mile from the tunnel, so I had no chance. It did lead to an interesting shot though.

It did clear up for the return trip though. This was shot from the opening of the CNJ tunnel. Something just feels right about taking pictures of a blue Pacific on the old CNJ right of way.

I was told that the two men at the front of 425 were from MTH, recording the sounds all day. This was when they were removing the recording equipment.

Thank you for the praise, Terry! (TGP)

Carguy, excellent shots of Reading & Northern 425!  It shows that railroading is an all weather sport

Andrew Lawrence, also great photos, but it is a shame that the taggers hit that poor locomotive.  I thought railroaders didn't mind the cars getting tagged, but locomotives were off limits.  At least that is the way it seems in the east.

Diesel Dan, great shot from an unusual angle.

Thanks as always, and keep them coming.

As an added bonus / tip to railfans, During the Schuylkill Haven Borough Day, September 28, 2013, you can catch both Reading & Northern 425 and Jersey Central 113 (seen above last month) under steam.  425 will be running short trips, and 113 will be on static display for people to admire who will not be on the train.

I have a real grab bag this week.   For the past month & half my attention has been fully on chasing "little" steam--the ~100 yr. old steam agricultural tractors.  I love those things!  I even got to drive one last weekend.     The threshing shows are spread around over several states, and I do cross RR tracks as I travel.  Sometimes, I catch something.  First shot is a pair of ancient engines still in use on the Otter Tail Railroad, at Fergus Falls MN.  I spotted them at night and slowed down on the highway to take a closer look.   Next thing I knew, I was being pulled over by the cops!  Considering how dark it was and I never got out of the car, how did they know I was a foamer?  Dang, they're good!  Second shot is of the 0-6-0  they run at Rollag, MN (near Fargo ND.)  This is THE place to go to see steam engines of all kinds!  This shot was taken with my 1940s Leica.  There's something just magical about photo'ing old steam engines with an old camera & lens of the same vintage as the train.    Third shot is a bonus from the James Valley Threshers Association annual weekend at Andover, SD.  They had FIVE steam tractors gang plowing a field.  IT WAS AWESOME!  The trick to photo'ing this kind of action is to keep your head on a swivel so you don't squished.  There are no barriers etc. and you can go & photo where you want.  Just use good sense.  OK, a fourth shot, something really unique.  In my closet full of old cameras I have a Kodak Panoram #1 Model D.  This is a really cool panoramic camera made  around 1905, shoots a strip of 120 film 8 inches long!  Shot is part of the steam tractor line up at Andover.  The last threshing show of the year around here is this coming weekend, in Menno SD.  I'll be there to catch the steamers, you bet.    After this weekend I'll have to find something else to go chase.  Hmmm.  It's getting dark a lot earlier now, and the trains are running heavy through the night...........

Zephyr, it may be that the borough is selling the tickets that the railroad isn't advertising them. As for the destination of the trip, probably only out for 4-5 miles south and backing up. It was s Facebook post that mentioned 113 will be under steam, but not running. I don't expect 113 to really go anywhere for a while. They probably have some bugs to work out before they can reliably run trips.

came across this swing bridge while in st.paul,mn  actually the bridge is in south st.paul

dates back far as I know to 1910 was originally used to access swifts meat packing and was owned by the rock island now a up owned rail line. there is a large hiking trail with dog area so at the north end the swing bridge is only a block away so a fine non trespassing place to view they even have benches to sit and watch from!

any locales there that can provide more information on this please respond as it had 3 mixed freights in less than an hours time about 3-4 pm time.
