Here we are, ladies and gentlemen. In the ninth month of the year. 2016 is whizzing by, like a Casey Jones-led make-up-time train. Welcome to Midweek Photos. A chance for us to share some of the real railroad world as we catch it.
This past weekend, we celebrated a holiday dedicated to workers. It was made a national holiday as a direct result of the Pullman strike in the 1890s. Railroads had an impact on the life of the times, and some of those times were celebrated at Steamtown this weekend over the Railfest 2016 event.
Items on display for the weekend. F3 663 and F7B 664 (above) and Lehigh Valley C420 414 matched with Lehigh Valley business car 353.
Delaware Lackawanna brought their historic freight train including EMC switcher no 426, sand cars from the DL&W and Lehigh Valley, an Erie Lackawanna piggyback flat and caboose 885, also from the DL&W.
The Electric City Trolley Station & Museum brought out this beauty, no. 64 from the East Troy Electric railway. The Brill Bullet has not been out much this year either.
These two newly painted pieces from Delaware Lackawanna in their modified ALCO demonstrator colors.
Tank engine 3 from EJ Lavino was brought out of the roundhouse, too. A lot of well-placed items made for an interesting weekend.
And, of course, our steam star, Baldwin no. 26 steaming up in the roundhouse.
More to come. Get your photos ready to add to the thread, and have a great week.
