military service themed passenger cars?

There were both heavyweights and streamliners painted for various service branches and some for War Bonds IIRC. Don't have any images handy, a Google search might get you started quickly.

I think the only cars marked for the military were the hospital train cars:

Regular military was transported in whatever was available from the railroads.  Even the purpose built troop cars were lettered Pullman:

K-line had some 15" heavyweights - there are a couple on ebay right now.  Search for "k-line troop".  They also had Red Cross cars (search "k-line red cross").

There are these models of prototypes in "N" Scale from NSE:

K line made a war bonds coach and an obs in 18" length. Weaver and soon Atlas have done the troop cars. Sunset models(aka 3rd rail) is still taking reservations for their hospital cars in full 21" lengths.

I discovered that Lionel offered a set titled "Troop Train" with a Hudson loco.  It contained two passenger cars and some freight cars.  Pretty neat.

During WW2 The Pennsylvania RR had several trains made from non air conditioned P-70 coaches which were used to transport German pows from Jersey City to the interior of the country. The cars wore PRR tuscan and were lettered for the PRR. These cars had modified windows which allowed them to be raised to provide ventilation but did not allow the window to be raised to the point which would have allowed a prisoner to escape from the train.

I was interested to read that one of those German POW camps was right outside Strasburg, home of the Strasburg RR, TCA, and the O scale show.  So those Pennsy POW cars must have been switched over to the Strasburg.  I have wondered what the Strasburg, its station, etc., looked like in that era, before it became a "tourist" road.  I have also read that German POW's who saw that lights were on, and there were a great many people in  a very large country going about normal lives, from their camps, became resigned to losing the war.  All of Europe was darkened against air raids.

I bought this set when it was released and have never taken it out of the shipping box. Thanks for the pics. Great looking set. Now that I finally have a layout I intend to break it out.
