Well maybe MTH staff should fill our requests with an OGR survey inserted of guessing at the market & geographic areas they think is important.

Looks like more re-issues. Good for the newbies, not for the vets.

MTH remains stagnant on new freight car tooling’s while following the same old pattern of fantasy schemes on the cookie cutter cars.

No new subways or transit cars again.

Several items and schemes still are still being overlooked in O. Hopefully Weaver will cover some of them.

The PRR RS-27 would be a good helper for my NYC – PC lash-up. I was waiting for that unit in a PS-3 version.

44 ton is ok but not sure what you would do with it.

I do have to note that they are the first in O to display the small red CP newsprint badge.

It is about what is generally expected from MTH, just more redecorated cookies.

Why not be positive.   Some people sure like to pee on the parade.

I'm positive I can't afford any new steam locos in the MTH catalog......and I am positive they look great and maybe some day I will buy one 2nd hand.......

Heck, I'm pleased as punch with it.

Two of the biggest highlights for me are the re-release of the SD45T-2 in SP and SSW livery,

Re-intruduction of the woodchip hopper in single and 2 3-packs with unique roadnumbers each.  (SP again for me).

As for the 44-tonner, well, it looks sharp, but I can already see it being somewhat of a tough sell in 2-rail because of its die-cast shell; kind of makes kitbashing that are more dominant in that scale more of a problem.

Hhhmmmm... Yet another catalog where Norfolk Southern 6920 "Honoring Our Veterans" was overlooked.    Get with the program, importers!!!  That's gonna be a top-seller, for sure!

When I saw that this MTH catalog had SD60M's in it, I thought maybe... just maybe... And then the big letdown as I turned the page.  I said it back when NS unveiled 6920, and I'll say it again now.  The first importer who produces this locomotive in O-Gauge gets my order.

I second that with the"Honoring Our Veterans"engine.

John

First catalog from either MTH or Lionel to make me reach for my wallet...although some dealer will be happy, the discounts are going to have to be greater than the standard 10%.

Overall very pleased to see several engines I've been wanting for a few years, PRR 4-4-4-4, the mail express is a great add-on option, the 44 toner for switching in the small yard, and O' the European steam.... Going to be a costly spring / summer next year.

I am sure it is not everyone's cup of tea, but doesn't have to be now does it.

David the PRR 44 tonner is as much of Philly as the Eagles, Phillies, the liberty bell and the breakfast meat that's name will never be mentioned. I saw the crews of the 44 tonners woofing down Pat's steaks.

Those little guys lived on Delaware Ave. and Washington Ave in South Philly for decades, come on guy give it up for the little guy!

I may get a et and build more tamiya WW2 1/48 scale US armor to mount on the flat cars.   I have at least 2 Sherman kits and a M10 Tank Destroyer.     Using Atlas-O flats for M26 Pershings.   At least that is the plan.   VBG

After another pass through the catalog this evening my want list is the BNSF SD60M and although I recently got a RK Scale SD-45, I might be in for the BNSF SD45 Premier version. For rolling stock, the BNSF Auto Carriers (both road numbers) and maybe the BNSF Rapid Discharge Hoppers (both road numbers) and possibly one of the 6 car sets. Those are the most likely pre-orders. There are a couple of others, but they are not in the must have or really want category. Others are more like would be nice to have, but not really necessary.

I know, I know but I was never a fan of the 44T for some reason. I'll think about it.

I just thought I would post something positive back a hundred posts ago or so.  May be a record number of posts in about 10 hours.    I like 7 steam engines and believe it or not one diesel for this steam fan.  That doesn't mean I have any dreams of ever owning any of them.  I just think they are cool engines.  I also left off the Big Boy which really makes it 8 and 1.

I may get one of the USRA switchers, but that would be all.  The rest are way too expensive for me.  Never the less, they are really neat!

After looking again I see a few more items i am interested in.    The US Army 6 car set, GN 2 Bay covered Hopper and BN flat with track.    I like the 44 ton engine but not sure if I will get it.  Oh yeah I saw a Railking modern tanker in BNSF so may get that one.

I better sell more of my premier fleet of tank cars in the next two weeks ( Sold 8 have 40 more to go ).    My wife wants part of the 8 by 6 walk in closet in our apartment that is packed with my trains and tools.   VBG.

I got to see the 6920 in Hickory, NC last Friday.  It was sitting on an overpass.  Interestingly, my first thought was: That would make a great O gauge engine.

I would have taken a picture with my phone, but unfortunately, we were rushing to the vet with a sick cat.  It was gone by the time we were returning home.

This catalog is deadly for me. Just deadly! I don't know why so many people gripe because there are so many variations left to be made. I can sit here and think of all the variations on paint schemes on Milwaukee Road PS-2 Hoppers alone and I still drool and salivate. Now I have one more!  What gets me excited is:

BN C30-7

Milwaukee Road GP20

Wisconsin Central SD45

AND the rolling stock!! I have wanted Montana Rail Link Woodchip Cars for years now I finally have them! Thanks MTH!

But I look at all the Milwaukee Road, Great Northern, Burlington Northern rolling stock and I am toast.

When I saw the SD45s in the catalog I feared a Northern Pacific, and thought..."My God with what I have on pre-order I am safe..." Then I saw a Wisconsin Central!  The WC SD45 will go great with my WC GP40, and FP45.

The Milwaukee Road E6 is a fantasy scheme for me. Now is they would have done that on a E8, then it could pass off for a E9, and I would be hooked. So I am thankful that didn't occur. But MTH has my wallet again with this catalog, especially the rolling stock.

I still can't believe MTH has not made a bloody nose SP SD45... That is long overdue. It seems like MTH is dipping their toe into the water with SCL, some Frisco, and SP. Its nice to see new paint schemes and models. There is a lot of SCL, Frisco, MP, to make and if they ever make a waffle side box or so that will be  must for me.
