Starting at 3 PM, Andy Edelman was filling in for Mike Wolf who had just gotten back from a train show in Dortmund, Germany, that had over 100,000 attendees (and we thought York was big). MTH’s European line-up is doing very well over there and Mike needed time to recover but is expected to be at the York Fairgrounds. (Personal note: this is the first time I haven’t seen Mike himself give this presentation.)
Andy has a unique sense of humor and I regret I cannot convey it through my notes. Let’s just say most people get a few (or more) laughs listening to Andy.
As a gift to the TCA Museum, Andy presented some of their Lionel Electric Trains commemorative products in the blue and orange paint scheme. He had an O gauge boxcar on hand in the classic Lionel Electric Trains packaging and said additional items including Standard gauge trains were on the way.
MTH is maintaining a more limited inventory but with more different models in order to be able to give customers the specific kind of models they want. The message is that is you see a model you want, don’t wait around to order it.
MTH is celebrating their 35th Anniversary. There will be a number of commemorative 35th Anniversary cars plus MTH will start giving away something every week starting in May. Stay tuned or subscribe to the MTH e-newsletter. Andy allowed as how Premier Big Boys were probably not among the items to be given away.
The parts listing for their tinplate line is now online.
On their app development (for smart phones, pads, etc.) they have switched to a different developer to get the product out this year. They expect to have it available in October, more specific details to come in the July timeframe.
