I was running my new MTH Railking Proto 3, GP9, Texas & Pacific #1132 on the local over the weekend. I was just realizing how smooth the unit runs. The main thing I noticed was the unit glides over the Lionel O and 0-27 remote uncoulper sections without any bounce.
Wow, I have been waiting for this.
I have an older Proto 2, MTH GP-20, it hangs up on the uncouplers. An even older Proto 1 geep runs well over them.
The question now, is the Proto 3 trucks a new design or just the pick rollers a smaller size. I have not looked yet to see if the new rollers can be mounted beneath the older trucks. I previousltried mounting the Proto 1 rollers, but the same result on the GP20, hanging up.
Maybe the box where the rollers mounts are milled a bit deeper, or maybe its just the spring tension on the rollers?
Anyway, the new geep is a great switcher!
