I have two books on repair manuals, and neither has this engine listed. I also don't see a 2056 or a #646 listed to see the diagrams. What is the diagramed engine I should be looking at so I can buy parts?

Greenberg's Repair and Operating Manual for Lionel Trains 1945-1969 (Seventh Edition) covers all three engines. #646 and #2056 both show up in the index, but #2046 isn't listed, however it shows up on page 427 which covers all three engines. You could also try the TRAINZ website and look for the expanded diagrams. TRAINZ is a forum sponsor.

Looks like I have the 1978 version and all your suggestions do not show up, nor the same pages.
According to Tandem Associates the 2046 shares the same boiler as the 646 and the 2056 and probably most of the other parts as well.
Jeff, I emailed you pics of the pages from Greenbergs book.

Thanks my Greenberg book is from 1978 and does not have anything on those engines, but John sent me the pages from his book and I will look into getting another book. Even my "Complete Service Manual for Lionel Trains" by K-Line couldn't help much. Thanks you guys.
