"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Now that we have this new Forum category......I have to come clean......my favorite all-time railroad is NOT O gauge....It's HO gauge....It's George Sellios' Franklin & South Manchester.

Being a Bronx boy, urban scenery is what I like.....no one does it like George Sellios!

Who else is a fan of this RR or has a similar story?

I managed to visit this RR a few times. Just unbelieveable as to the detail involved and done by just one person. Your so overwhelmed you sort of forget that it's a model railroad. At the open houses I've been to there was pretty much just one train running and nobody seem to care as your to busy checking out the scenery and structures.

My all time favorite though is Dick Elwell's Hoosac Valley. HO as well. But in a more country setting in New England with fall scenery.

As soon as I saw the photo, I knew which layout you were referring to, without even reading. It is hands down my favorite to date. A friend of mine from Fall River Mass. knows George, and had featured his work in photos and videos. Rod Stewart's HO layout is exceptional too. There are many others that I have seen in a variety of gauges.

Peter, yes I am a fan of the NEB&W. visited it many years ago. Not over the top modeling but very nice. Trains had been idle for a while seeing it was summer. Nothing ran more than a few feet without stalling. Kind of made me glad I was in 3 rail. I believe the track was brass. A few students were busy getting the mainline clean. Still this layout is huge. Takes up pretty much the entire basement of a dorm. . It's run like a real railroad and the distance between towns and scenes is enough to make it believeable.

I tend to gravitate towards RR's based in the Northeast. I use to pick up Allen Keller's videos and view them over and over. Don't think they are around anymore.  Lou Sassi had a really nice Rutland based layout. Most of what I have is VHS. I think they would have had a home run if they had offered the 3 FS&M videos in a boxed DVD set.

Dave....The 1st 2 installments of F&SM are on VHS....the 3rd is DVD. I called Allen Keller about 10 years ago and asked him if he was going to convert them....he said: no.

It's one of the reasons why I keep a VHS machine.

The other reason I keep a VHS machine is that I still watch my 16 issues of OGR, the Video (see Rich, Ed, Jim.....you guys are video stars  ).

Here is an interesting link to an article on a visit to the F&SM by Rod Stewart.

Here is another article on the F&SM in "Model Railroad Hobbiest", a FREE on-line publication.  Excellent articles, layout tours etc.

Allan is a true gentleman.  I had the pleasure to talk to him while I was running my V&O Reefer train on the Free-mo layout last summer at the NMRA convention in Cleveland Ohio.  He was just amazed someone would want to run a V&O train at the NTS.  I also need to give my friend Lionel Strang the credit on the great picture of us.
