Also seen at the National Train Show was a HUGE N scale Free-MoN (N scale Free-Mo) layout which incorporated I believe over 80 modules from four groups, one from the LA basin, one from the Bay area, one from the Portland area, and one from Minnesota. This setup was nothing short of AWESOME. I am a died in the wool HO modeler, but I am getting a serious itch to do a couple of N scale Free-MoN modules if I find a group here in the Chicago area. I could plan in this scale with not a lot of transport effort (the modules would fit in the back of my truck or SUV), and the latest N scale stuff, with DCC, and some with sound, run VERY well.
Here are photos of modules that I really liked of the Free-MoN group.
As I side note, I saw a lot of younger modelers playing with the Z scale and N scale modular groups. I believe both N and Z will be growing in the future, at the expense of the larger scales. The amount of motive power and equipment available today in N and Z is considerably more than even five years ago.

Jerry
One of the modules utilized hand laid N scale switches, manufactured very similar to a Fast Tracks HO switch. Great work.
