Here is N&W 611 roaring on the morning run to Lynchburg, Va. This was taken on the upgrade near Webster, Va.
For those of you who do not like the sound of nature and a train in the distance, please fast forward to the four minute mark.

Outstanding!!
That was outstanding, hearing her off in the distance was cool.
A railroad based in Omaha needs to hire this group!
What is wrong with the sounds of nature and a train? That is part of the atmosphere!
Very nice Jim, wish I was there.
Thank you for videoing such a marvelous piece of machinery !!!!!!!
Jim - nice, thanks for posting. Can't resist - here's one from the afternoon run. Western end of Shawsville, heading up the grade to Christiansburg.

Nice David, I was at the crossing in the distance last year taking a video.
Wow... its like I was there! Thank you for posting.
Jim - Wish I knew the area better. Looked around Friday for locations - so many. Got in the way of a rail-grinding crew on the south track. Had never seen that work before. Car was in the driveway just before the crossing, and I was even closer. Crew blew the horn a couple times - whether it was at me, or for the crossing, dunno. The work train stopped after the crossing, and backed up (I think) after I got the car out of there.
If anyone from Loram or NS is reading this - sorry if I screwed up the workflow.

I never cease to marvel at these steam boilers. Not only are they boilers, but they have all sorts of huge moving pieces. And, they glide along rails pulling heavy boxes and think nothing of it !
So how would I find information on where and when 611 is running ? I am hoping it continues to run throughout the warm weather, this year. I've missed chances to see other restored steam locomotives and I would be disappointed to miss an in person sighting of this one.
Great!
I enjoyed the nature video eeerrrr..... train video of the 611
Dan - there's only one more weekend of trips, June 4-5, between Manassas and Front Royal in Virginia. fireup611.org is the website.
Whether arrangements will be made for 611 to run in future was a topic of discussion at a few of the places I stopped. I certainly hope so.

Gorgeous!

nice footage. being a smoke and choke guy, that is the way I like to see smoke out of an engine

SUPER----- -JUST AS I REMEMBER THE SOUND OF STEAM
Hey, didn't anyone tell 611 that there's a 1.2% grade there and it has 20 cars behind the a-tank? Now that was performance plus!! Great video, Big Jim. The audio alone would have done the OWL proud.

David, the link doesn't seem to be working. It brings me to a blank OGR page instead.
Very nice...thanks.
Dan -
Don't know what I did. Just type that address in your browser.
David
Dave, I tried that but still come up with an empty OGR page. I found some info on the Virginia Transportation Museum and they had schedules and so forth on the 611.

The link wouldn't work for me either. It did work when I copied and pasted it into my browser.
