I have a Premier PS3 pennsy J-1 20-3458-1. I have sounds and tender lights but the engine itself has no power or lights on at all. I just took this out of the box today, has never been ran. I tried to recover and rest the engine as the book said to do with no luck. Do any of you know what I should look for here. Thanks.

Check the wireless drawbar VERY closely, including the internal plug that's up inside the locomotive on the other side of the drawbar. Make sure all are fully seated.
thanks john. I have checked all of the connections on and in the engine and in the tender as well they all are seated all the way.
Sure sounds like something loose. I suspect it'll have to go for service, I don't know what you're going to do without peeking inside.
I have had it apart tonight. I didn't see anything that just looked wrong but I also don't know how to check everything.
At the risk of sounding like a pest, this is a classic symptom of a loose wireless drawbar. Sometimes the drawbar may not be fully seated in the tender's receptacle, although you might think that it is.
Barry, also the plug on the boiler board.
ok thanks guys, I will take it back apart tomorrow. and check again.
Look at what John and Barry mentioned first. Then go inside the locomotive, locate the boiler board and pull the plugs that go into the board then reinstall them. I have seen bad boiler boards from the factory but have seen more with plugs that were not properly installed. If you have sounds and tender lights, your action (lack of) will be based in the locomotive.
