As I am constructing my layout I am trying to plan ahead for the backdrop. I will have a Penn Station constructed by our own  Alex M. as the focal point. There will be a 7 story MTH building on each side with a street separating the station from the 7 story. There will a 4-5" separation for a trolley track behind the station and then some kitbashed Korber background buildings behind the station on the far side of the track. The rest of the 12' will be filled with building fronts of various makes.

I was looking at backdrops that were supplied thru the scenery source. I need a big city scÈne for one side and then a more suburban scene across from Penn station. The Border store is very limited. Their city scene has water which I can't use. The Sceneking products looked good until I got to the page where they showed that you have to paste each panel. Has anyone done that? I also went to All Scale backdrops and found their website to be very congested.  While there I noticed that they had Eazycut buildings. I thought that I could put an easycut building between the Korber front and the backdrop. I called Allscale and asked for help regarding the best spacing between buildings and the actual backdrop. I was basically told that they just make them they don't use them. There is a question here somewhere.

What is the best website for a city business district backdrop?

Will adding cutouts like a decoupage look good or ruin the scene?

What is the optimum height of backdrop above the highest track?
