I have just installed my LCS track,in the instructions it says that when you first power up that both led lights should illuminate briefly, only the green led lights up briefly on mine not the red,it also says that the yellow light on the legacy base will blink once every second, mine does that ,but my tmcc red light also blinks once every second,is this normal,& finally ,when i shut down power to the layout ,the green light on the LCS track stays lit,is this normal? I hope i have given an accurate description of what is happening ,thanks for any help you can give me. Sorr ,just one more question, does the wall pack have to be unplugged after each use ?

Hi Gerald,

You don't need to unplug the wall pack after use, although if you are using an outlet strip to power on and off your LEGACY base, you may wish to connect the LCS power wall-pack to the same switched outlet strip. On power up, the green LED does stay on longer, the red one flashes only for an instant. I'm not in front of a layout right now, so I can't comment right now about the base red LED.

Cheers,

Rudy

Only the green LEDs on the Sensor Track light up for a second, then go out when you turn on the LCS and the Base.

The Base red LED does not normally light up unless you are sending a CAB command...I have no answer for that if you are not sending CAB commands somehow.

When you shut down, the green LED on the Sensor Track goes on because you shut down the Base and left the power to the LCS on. If you turn off the LCS power, then everything goes off.

Normally the green LED will go on or stay on if there is no Base serial port active...like when you turned off the Base or the Base serial port is broken...like mine was

I don't know if i made clear about the red light blinking every second,it's the red light on my tmcc command base,& am not sending any commands while it is doing this. I decided to give it a test just like the instructions suggest ,they say take a legacy engine & run it over the sensor track, well i did that after i had programed the lcs track to blow it's horn,& nothing ,so i checked under the engine i was using & guess what, there was no infrared transmitter on this one,so i dug out the one engine that i know has an infrared transmitter & it worked as it is suppose to. I just checked again, but this time i shut the lights in the train room off & when i powered up the layout the red light did blink once,it wasn't noticeable with the lights on,but i still don't know why the red light on the tmcc base blinks every second. Ok i just read the directions again,& on the bottom of page 8 it says that once connected & powered-up,the RED led on the base-1l,will blink once every second,i don't have a base 1-l,i have a tmcc base ,so i assume that my tmcc base blinking every second is normal, i guess you are suppose to actually read ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS, i learn something every day. I think i will shut down the power strip that the sensor track is plugged into ,there is no reason for me to leave it on all the time.

Gunrunnerjohn, which base are you referring to when you say that the red light on your base doesn't blink ,the legacy base,or the tmcc base? i just checked mine again & when i power up the layout the red light on my tmcc base doesn't blink, but as soon as i turn on the sensor track the red light does blink briefly on the sensor track, then the green light on the sensor track goes off thats when the red light on my tmcc base starts to blink just the same as the yellow light on the legacy base does, captaincog's tmcc base blinks the same as mine does, but like he says it is not a big deal & i have to agree with him, because the sensor track does work as it is suppose to,at least right now it does, but i would like to know officially ,if the tmcc base  red light is suppose to blink in sequence with the legacy base yellow light.
