Neil Young has lost a house in fires in California

Always sad when anybody loses their home. A part of that family/person is also somewhat lost.
I believe this may be the second time Neil has lost his home to a fire.
I can't even fathom what it would be like to lose my house the way those poor people are experiencing the loss of theirs, out there in California. My thoughts and prayers go out to them. But they certainly need more than just thoughts and prayers. I hope the feds get their act together and do the right thing.
Houses can be replaced. All the lives lost in these fires can't be. Those are the families my prayers go out to.
Fire insurance in the brush covered California foothills must be super expensive.

Fire Insurance is extremely high in CA,we had ours cancelled at renewal time and had a hard time getting a new policy and it came at a substancial increase, never made a Claim against the Prior company.

I wonder if he lost his Lincoln electric car, again?

As well as a host of actors and Gabe Kapler - former Red Sox player and now Phillies ? manager.
This has me missing Electroliner
My heart goes out to those the fires have taken, but the living are gonna need the real empathy and assistance, especially those of lesser means.

You could say the same about those who have to have beach front property, Yet it makes my rates go up because I live in a state that has coast line.

Oh, I think a little sympathy and "prayer" can be spared for people who lose "mere things" to a fire, hurricane or anything else. Those "things" can represent very human labor and effort over many years, for most of us. Loss and sadness have many degrees, shades and flavors.
Adriatic,
Very kind of you to remember Bruce...Electroliner. His house did indeed burn down and I suspect he lost most of his stuff. I miss his posts very much. His perspective would have been much appreciated right about now.

Never a dull moment in California, We had the Acton fire eight years ago come right up to the other side of the road. We had an order to evacuate it was coming quick, we did not lose the house but our cats really freaked out living in my van for two days along with all of my Engines. When we returned I expected the worst however god was on our side, The house did have a nice rosey shade to it from the fire retardant they dropped. California is always popping with something, floods, earthquakes, fires, Riots..., I will be glad to be leaving the DC area and going home to Pennsylvania where you get a occasional river flood and a few small tornados once every decade however for the most part this is what you get.
I imagine the loss of the tin broke Bruce's heart to the point of no return. I would have loved to listen to that mind churn for a few hours. It ran deep, hit all the angles, and explored places many folks don't bother with. He was a loss to the world, not just the forum; though most never guessed from the abundently chearful boyish posts he made. He was one of the half a dozen "figure heads" that truely headed the inspiration for me to join the forum... and actually, only one remains now. (not that you all dont deserve credit.... or fault depending on your outlook )
You've gotta wonder what Neil lost too. I'm not sure if that was his primary home or not, but I'm sure there was something of a RR nature lost that was dear to him as well. (if you need to man a throttle Neil, just let me know .. Seriously too though )
I'm sorry to read about your loss Neil. My prayers go out for you and everyone who are forced to deal with this horrible fire.
Sorry Neil this happened. Hoping your family and pets are all right. The house and (most) trains can be replaced. Maybe a new song can sum up what you are feeling and seeing.
This fire is bad news. Just to give you an idea, here's what the evacuation along Pacific Coast Highway looked like. A lot of homes have been lost. I've been working 12-hour shifts since Friday morning. In Northern California, the town of Paradise is all but gone from the fire up there.

Wow Matt, spectacular photo but what a hurt...
The Camp Fire as it is known here decimated the town of Paradise CA, the town was completely wiped out, 1667 structures destroyed and I think 23 are dead at last count. The smoke came in about five days ago and still has the Bay Area socked in. I've never seen it this bad, at 1400 in the afternoon it looks like 1700 at night and you can barely see the sun or any sunlight. I think at last count they only had the fires 25% contained. I have coworkers in the town of Orville, yes the the town that had the flood emergency two years ago, on standby evacuation. The fire is ten miles from them right now. They can use all the prayers and/or well wishes you can give them.
