Hey Everybody:

Just got my new Lionel Legacy Chessie Greenbrier and she's beautiful, she runs ALMOST perfect with one problem.  When she gets ready to travel over one particular switch she either shorts out the layout or temporarily shorts it out according to speed.  I checked the pickup rollers and the second pickup roller on the front truck sparks momentarily on another switch but it keeps running, however on this particular switch it has shorted out continuosly.  I ran my hand over the switch checking for any rails that could be slightly higher than the rest, nothing.  I ran several other trains without any problems, I'm kind of baffled.  Has this happened to anyone else before, I'm listening.

Thank You Sparky74 for tuning in. Atlas O-72 switch are the switches that are presenting a problem with this train only.  I took the train back to my LHS and they switched it out for me and we all came to the conclusion that it was a pickup roller problem. My pickup roller wasn’t screwed in tightly enough however this train I have now doesn’t have a problem with the 1st switch, it’s problem is with the 2d switch. This is a good one cause my layout is about 7 yrs old and this situation never occurred before.

I have an old MTH PS1 Greenbrier that I upgraded to TMCC command control. It had the exact same problem you're describing. The short only happened when going through the diverging route of an Atlas O72 switch. Never had a problem with any other switches.

It took a while to figure out but one of the driver tires was shorting to the very end of the center rail.

I took a small file and beveled the top side of the center rail where it makes a point. It doesn't take much of a bevel to fix the problem. I had to do this on most all of my Atlas O72 switches just because of this one engine.
