Received a Fed-Ex shipment email today from Charles Ro... and from what I can tell by the invoice number and the amount charged to the credit card, it appears the Lionel PS5 Flatcars w/twin-piggybacks have arrived at dealers. I noticed the pre-auth yesterday, but the shipping email hit today. The Charles Ro website shows them having an ETA of 10/13/2015, which would correlate to receiving a shipment from Lionel yesterday (Tuesday, 10/13). And Charlie's crew is already turning them around to customers who pre-ordered awhile ago. I'm pleasantly amazed how Charlie's website seems to have a reasonably accurate pulse on when items are arriving. Not 100% perfect, but pretty darn close.
These are great cars for folks modeling "steam-era" intermodal days. And even for collectors, this is still a manageable series of products to "collect". I opted to not get every car produced, but I do have at least one of each road-name produced... and some came as two-pack offerings. These should make an impressive train, with two steamers double-headed leading the way!
Now for an example of when product shipments don't go quite as planned... the website also has an ETA of 10/10/2015 for those cool CSX 60' boxcars that I've been waiting for since they were catalog'd back in 2012 Volume 1. Lionel has been pushing this date out a few months at a time for a couple of years now, so just about any date posted remains suspect. I guess the boxcars missed this latest boat out of China... yet again.
Anybody have any other sightings of new product(s) being shipped this month?
