I need a transformer for a grandchild's train set. The ad on the Lionel CW80 says "new and improved". What specifically are those new features and improvements? I remember old posts that describe these transformers as a disaster, which is THE reason I never bought one.

also from Dave Olson at Lionel:
This is one area where Lionel could use some investment in media/social media/website updates. But for these forums and/or a robust internet search, it's often difficult to find basic information. I've been looking into conversion to AC (eventually) and have been researching up the whazoo. Here's what I found.
- Different SKU (SKU: 1908080 old one was SKU: 6-14198)
- All new core and circuit board to comply with new government mandates on energy efficiency, etc.
- Active fault protection which shuts off current until fault is fixed and transformer reset.
- More reliably produces 18V (apparently this was a complaint about the previous unit).
- Two LED bulbs (red and green) (or bicolor LED) as opposed to a single bulb with a green lens. Red light will illuminate when there is a short/derailment.
