Hello Everyone,
My name is Frank, and although I am new to the forum, I am not new the O Scale scene. My brother and father are on the forum and after moving from home, I figured it was about time to create my own account. I have been into model railroading since I can remember. My father started my brother and I out with HO Scale, and we progressed to O scale when I was around 13 years old, and ever since that's what we still collect. I am currently 23 and still love model railroading! Unfortunately, as many of you probably know, model railroading for my age group is virtually non-existent. I can only say I truly haven't met many people my age that still model railroad. To me, this is pretty sad. I love the hobby and wish others would get involved into it and hope to pass it on to others!(I got my girlfriend into the hobby and convinced her to put a train case in the living room )
I also love railfanning! I grew up around the railroad. My family and I would take our Sundays, and dedicate them to hanging out at Bear Mountain New York, watching the CSX line roll through Iona Island and underneath the Bear Mountain Bridge. More recently, I moved to the Suburbs of Richmond Virginia. Here I know that there are a lot of yards and lines that run through the city, making it a great railfanning location; something I am very excited about.
Currently, I collect 3 Rail Hi-Rail and Scale Locomotives and Rolling stock. I prefer diesel over steamers, and my two favorite road names are CSX and BNSF. I do not have any favorite brands in particular, I always believed that if you like the looks of it, why care if its a particular brand and just buy it! So that being said, my favorite diesel I own, is my Mth Premier PS3 CSX AC4000CW, it was a gift from my brother to me for the holidays and I really enjoy it! I also love my Lionel BNSF Ice Cold Express set. I currently live in a apartment with hardwood floors, which will make for a nice size "carpet" layout. I want to ideally have 3 main lines, and two switch yards. I plan on running 0-90's, 0-82's and lastly 0-72's.
Overall, I really joined this forum for several reasons. I want to gain knowledge of the hobby through its experienced forum members. I also want opinions of my peers on this forum in any matter that's associated with the hobby. I want to share my knowledge and collection with the members here! I also would like to know where to shop in this area! Lastly, I would love to meet and stop by members layouts when offered an open house.
Thank you for accepting me onto this forum! And I hope to be posting sometime soon!
Sincerely,
Frank-
