Brand new from MTH Electric Trains its the Premier Line model of Norfolk & Western 611! Featuring Proto-Sound 3.0, which makes it sound just like the real 611, and every other feature included with all Premier Line steam locomotives this is a long awaited addition to the roster. Right now the engine is leading a string of coal hoppers but once the new MTH Premier Norfolk Southern OCS passenger cars arrive I will be able to relive my weekend in Roanoke.

Enjoy!

Beautiful locomotive - thanks for the nice video!

Am curious about the sound of the whistle - did MTH record 611's actual whistle?

Just watched a couple of Youtubes of 611 running and some sound similar to this model with the very low tone while several others have a much higher pitch from what I'm hearing (old ears). Does Mike's have the 'doppler effect' available?

I'm with Art above in preferring the whistle on the 2005 RS5 version of ours.

I do prefer the high gloss finish of this new Premiere to ours however...

First off thanks for watching!

1. MTH would release an Excursion Version of the 611 with the "Spirit of Roanoke" written under the cab windows in the new 2016 catalog. Oh well, I guess I can just use a decal on mine if I want. It looks like I'll have to get all 8 of those new passengers cars too along with the complete NS OCS that I already have on order. They should of produced those cars a long time ago when the NKP 765 began the 21st Century Steam Program.

2. MTH was supposed to have recorded the sound of the real 611 but I heard a rumor that it was using a similarly sounding Union Pacific whistle as the original N&W was unavailable for some strange reason.

3. The playground was installed only two days ago.

4. Glad you like the bridge! And yes I will be adding supports once I install the yard tracks underneath but for now it is holding up really well.

Here is the complete track plan.
