Nickel Plate Road Berk No. 765 will once again be in Owosso, Michigan for the Steam Railroad Institute's "Train Expo 2014" to be held June 20-22 in Owosso. The locomotive is owned by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society and has run scores of trips in recent years as part of Norfolk Southern's 21st Century Steam program. 765 will join SRI's own 2-8-4, former Pere Marquette No. 1225, at the event.

765 will pull one half-day excursion each day to Alma. It will head the 8 a.m. departure on Friday and Sunday and the 2 p.m. departure on Saturday. The trip will last about 4 hours and will include photo runbys.

The locomotive will also be a part of night photo sessions coordinated by Lerro Productions. Tickets to the night photo sessions are available here.

See you there!

Hi Rich,

I have color slides of the 765 that I took in the summer of 1985,  while she was steaming through the old P&LE yards in Mckees Rocks near Pittsburgh.  Also during a stop at Station Square in Pittsburgh.  Were you at the controls during this trip?  I am in the process of having the slides processed onto dvd and hope to have them during train day at Patricks house next Saturday.

Regards, Nick

Yes, I ran on several of those trips.

No, I don't have a "...rough estimate..." on ferry move dates. I know the EXACT DATE of every ferry move we will make this year. But they won't be publicized.
