Reason I put real, is so people don't think this is about a model on Corner Field Model Railroad Museum we have which is actually the 765.

But anyway, as of this morning on Facebook from the Red Caboose Motel & Restaurant Facebook group, they posted a video of NKP Berkshire #757 was leaving Strasburg PA with Strasburg Switcher #8618 pushing in reverse.

Now comes the interesting part for speculation, what NS line will it take to get to the Bellevue Museum?

I assume its still rusted in place?

As far as I know.

So to move it they would have to disconnect the linkage somehow?  Thank you in advance.

Yes, the main rods and eccentric rods have been removed. Thus the 25 MPH speed restriction, as the drivers are now "out of balance" with the main rod on each side removed.

Letting my unbridled enthusiasm go, it would be fantastic to have the 765 tow the 757 to Ohio! Double headed NKP Berks!

It wouldn't be double headed really. It would be  a well maintained NKP 765 dragging a cold, dead, rusty, 757.

And ....with 765 limited to the 25mph speed limit because of 757......... it would be even less "fantastic".

Not nearly as fantastic as an actual double head with 2 talking stacks.

Pere Marquette 1225 and NKP 765 have certainly looked and sounded great together.  Hope that happens again sometime soon!

As to routing, an Ohio contact is guessing west out of Alliance on the old PRR to Bucyrus and then north to Bellevue again on the old PRR.  This keeps it off the high density C&P and NYC lakefront.  Was told 765 had moved that way before.

That's what I'm thinking, but NS does not own the former PRR west of Crestline. They only have trackage rights.

Another possibility from Pittsburgh would be to take the Youngstown line through Youngstown to Ashtabula and get on the former NKP mainline and take that to Bellevue.

IIRC NS owns the old PRR west to Crestline where it intersects the now CSX owned ex NYC Big Four, NS has rights over the ex PRR CSX leased (or sold?) Chicago Ft Wayne and Eastern from Crestline I think to Chicago, but definitely to Bucyrus.  Of course the only definite way to know where it is going is to see it as it could and probably is subject to change depending on numerous conditions with many route combinations.

This NKP Berk?!

I believe that is NKP #767.  She hit a Wabash passenger train at NE interlocking in New Haven Indiana on July 17th 1951.  She was repaired and returned to service, but crews said she was never quite the same after that.  The City Of Fort Wayne actually requested this engine for public display, but due to it's poor condition from sitting dead outside the East Wayne enginehouse, (which is in sight of where the wreck occurred)  765, which had been stored inside for much of that time was substituted instead.  765 was put on display as 767, and 767 went to scrap disguised as 765.

For you night owls, the train could hit Horseshoe Curve around 3 or 4a (EDIT: or maybe 5a) EST. If I make it home from work in time, I'll watch the live cam. Only passing along what I'm seeing elsewhere. David

For funnies I checked out the live webcam at 3:16 AM (2/13). To paraphrase Ollie Williams, it’s snowing sideways.

Its official, NKP 757 with the caboose will be taking the Youngstown Line. Suppose to be tonight. Will travel along from Youngstown Ohio, up into Ashtabula, turn west onto NS Lake Erie District, travel through Geneva, Madison, Painesville, Mentor, Willoughby, Eastlake, etc and probably continue along NS Lake Erie Line through Rocky River and points west till Bellevue.

Tom:  Will you and any of your cameras be chasing the train?

Tony, Ill probably be passing. With 25MPH restriction all the way to Bellevue on any route for this train and its soon into Conway PA, plus Recrew, diesel fuel for the 2 NS, its looking complete dark along Youngstown Line, meaning my guess of after 3 to 4PM in Youngstown and maybe, (being optimistic of 8 to 10PM Ashtabula).

Tom:  pardon my ignorance, but won't that route take the 757 over the Trestle near Riverside High School above 84?

If so, some good morning sun would make for some cool pix.........

Tony, yes it will if it takes the Youngstown Line to get on the NS Lake Erie District.

As of around 3:10PM, 757 finally departed Conway. So now its a long treck up the Youngstown Line at 25MPH.
